“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” (Matthew 22:37-39)
Knowing the first and great commandment is the beginning of fulfilling the Old Testament. Jesus Christ was teaching when a lawyer interrupted Him with a question, tempting Him. He asked, “Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus, full of divine knowledge and wisdom, answered him: That we must love God with our whole heart, soul, and mind. In other words, we should love God with our whole being: spirit, soul, and body (1 Thess 5:23).
The commandment that is second is to love others as ourselves.
Beloved, if we can practice these two commandments sincerely, we will surely enjoy the Old Testament blessings of God without limit. Those who desire to be great have the opportunity to practice the great commandment because it is endowed with the ability to produce greatness in you.
Beloved, there is another commandment in the New Testament called the new or greatest commandment. Here, Jesus Christ commanded us to love one another as He loved us (John 13:34–35).
Beloved, loving God, and loving the brethren or saints as Jesus Christ loved us, fulfills the entire Old Testament and New Testament. God bless you!
